Shazam! Fury of the Gods star Zachary Levi has suggested a return to the world of Tangled, with the actor putting himself forward as the live action Flynn Rider alongside Florence Pugh as Rapunzel in the Tangled live action remake. Speaking at a recent Fan Expo in Chicago, Levi responded to the rumors currently circulating regarding Black Widow and Oppenheimer star Florence Pugh as the live action Rapunzel, and wondered whether he would be the best choice for Flynn Rider. See what he had to say below (via moviemaniacs)…
“There was this thing floating around the internet, I just saw it, somebody sent it to me, that Florence Pugh potentially might play the role of Rapunzel. And If Florence plays Rapunzel, what about me? Which would also be a trip because my real last name is Pugh, p-u-g-h, Zachary Levi Pugh, so you’d have [makes pew-pew noise] in Tangled. Come on!”
Released back in 2010, the animated Tangled retells the classic tale of Rapunzel, a beautiful princess who has been locked away in a tower since she was a baby by her overly protective mother. Her magical long blonde hair has the power to provide eternal youth, hence why she has been locked away but, at the age of 18, Rapunzel becomes curious about the outside world, and when a good-hearted thief uses her tower as a refuge, she asks him to help her escape.
Based on the Brothers Grimm tale, and featuring the voices of Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi, and Donna Murphy, Tangled was praised by critics and saw huge success at the box office. A remake is reportedly now in development, with Disney continuing to transform all their animated classics into live action.
Zachary Levi Recently Called Out Hollywood for Making ‘Garbage’
Shazam! Star Zacahry Levi has been hitting headlines a lot lately, and not often for very good reasons. Following the actor’s comments regarding the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, and then a clarification, Levi has also slammed Hollywood for making too much ‘garbage.’
“I personally feel like the amount of content that comes out of Hollywood that is garbage – they don’t care enough to actually make it great for you guys. They don’t,” Levi said earlier this month. “How many times do you watch a trailer and go, ‘Oh my god, this looks so cool!’ Then you go to the movie and it’s like, ‘This was what I get?’ They know that once you’ve already bought the ticket and you’re in the seat, they’ve got your money. And the only way for us to change any of it is to not go to the garbage. We have to actively not choose the garbage. It’ll help. It’ll help a lot.”
We will let you decide whether a live action remake of the beloved animated outing Tangled constitutes as ‘garbage’ or not.
Zachary Levi has several projects on the horizon, including Spy Kids: Armageddon, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, Harold and the Purple Crayon, and The Unbreakable Boy.
