The official synopsis for Reveille reads as follows:
In late 1943, an American squad engages in a skirmish with German soldiers along the Winter Line in central Italy. As artillery shells begin to rain down, the Americans must honor the rules of war and protect their wounded prisoners. Huddled together in a cave and made to see the enemy as human, the soldiers wrestle with unimaginable moral questions that lie outside the boundaries of nationality and allegiance.
Reveille stars an ensemble cast that includes Kevin Sinic, Bernd Wittneben, Yony Marian, Bart Voitila, Christopher Erk, Remy Fisher, Vick Medina, Kevin Czako, Jared Becker, Joe Bongiovanni, Jake Powers, Maxwell David Marcus, Kyle Yaskin, Craig Jordan, David Morales, Lane Schnathorst, Nicolas Decorse, Devin Krueger, Reed Foster, Brian McCallion, and Calvin Cook.
Set amidst the treacherous Winter Line in central Italy during the mid-stages of World War II, Reveille has been described as “a gripping war drama that takes audiences on a visceral journey where nationality and allegiance blur, and the rules of war are tested like never before.”
Using archival documents and interviewing family members of soldiers who had survived the second world war, writer and director Michael Akkerman unapologetically peels back the layers of wartime fiction and exposes the raw essence of human struggle. Inspired by true events, Reveille captures a historically accurate depiction of WWII (going so far as to safely use live rounds of ammunition), along with the unspeakable choices soldiers face, and the unimaginable impact war leaves upon their souls.

MovieWeb’s own Olly Dyche has heaped praise on Reveille, calling it “one of the most authentic World War II movies in recent memory.”
“Reveille is and will be one of the most authentic World War II experiences you will lay your eyes upon this decade. Its simple and bleak production design immerses audiences into the setting. The headgear for each side is beautifully accurate, among many other aspects of their costume design. Akkerman and his team of creatives really want to shroud audiences in a genuine World War II experience, and it really shows.”
Reveille is scheduled to be released via On Demand on Friday, August 4, courtesy of Buffalo 8.
