Maybe we haven’t seen the last of Silver Shamrock like a Halloween III: Return of the Witch sequel is “possible,” says series producer Malek Akkad. In recent years, the Halloween franchise has regained popularity following the release of director David Gordon Green’s new film in 2018. It was the first of a planned trilogy intended to recreate the Michael Myers vs. Laurie Strode saga to close with the second episode, Halloween kills, which comes out this week. The plan from there is to do Halloween ends, and there is nothing set in stone about it at the moment Halloween from there.
We recently spoke with Halloween kills director David Gordon Green and producer Malek Akkado about what’s to come in the franchise. When Green was asked if we wanted an answer to some of Michael Myers’ supernatural elements. Green clearly said we’re not, because the “mystery scares him.” When asked directly if Silver Shamrock would be included in Michael’s backstory in the next film, here’s what the director had to say.
“No Silver Shamrock, yes. That would be fun. That’s a good idea for the next wave.’
For those who don’t know, Silver Shamrock is a reference to: Halloween III: The Season of the Witch. The film is infamous for not bringing back Michael Myers as the antagonist, but featuring the evil company Silver Shamrock that plans to kill millions of children on Halloween night with supernatural masks. Tom Atkins plays the main character, Dr. Dan Challis, in one of the horror legend’s most memorable roles. Although the film was controversial at the time, it has since developed a large cult following among horror fans.
Legacy sequels have become quite popular in recent years, with Halloween serve as one of the most successful of all. It has led us to wonder what a legacy sequel to Halloween III would be. First, it would finally give us an answer to what really happened at the end of the film, a mystery that remains unsolved. We asked producer Malek Akkad if a legacy sequel starring Tom Atkins as Dr. Challis is possible, and this is what he said in response.
“What I can tell you is I think thousands of things have been considered, so when you say that… My focus right now, you know, this has been a tough production. It’s never been that long something is done, and we all try to get together and focus on this, and then we go to the next one (Halloween kills). And I think everyone’s energy is real — because we believe in this one, because the last one came out so well, we really want to get the troops together and get that third one done.”
That said, here’s what Akkad has to say specifically about being able to do something Halloween III legacy sequel with Tom Atkins.
“To that question I would immediately say anything is possible. I know that’s a little vague, maybe, of an answer. But that’s literally all I have. Anything is possible and we’ll try to address that, and You know, watch it when it comes up.”
That’s certainly no guarantee, but leaving the door open will have to do for now. you can watch Halloween kills when it premieres in theaters and on Peacock on October 15.
