As The living Dead Nearing its end, attention is now turning to the multiple spin-off shows that will take its place in the near future. we already have Fear of the Walking Dead continuing in a nuclear apocalypse scenario, the Rick Grimes spin-off is still in progress, there is a final season of Walking Dead: World Beyond and then we have Daryl & Carol in 2023. Norman Reedus has been talking about the currently untitled spin-off show featuring Reedus’ Daryl and Melissa McBride’s Carol, and he says fans should expect it to have a very different tone from the main show.
“I can’t tell you much about the spin-off. I can tell you it won’t look like The living DeadReedus said he would get an answer to a question from fans for IMDB. It won’t look like a Walking Dead episode with just Daryl and Carol. It will be completely different.”
A statement from The living Dead Chief Content Officer Scott Gimple said in 2020: “A new world, a new tone, a new frontier of story and purpose – all with the lessons learned from the people who shaped their apocalypse families, their hard-won victories, and painful losses.”
According to Reedus, talking on one of the Talking Dead after the show’s episodes, the original plan had been for Daryl and Carol to leave the show together, but also return to the main show occasionally, but that all changed when the announcement was made that season 11 of the mother show would be the last. season. That doesn’t mean anything about the spin-off itself will change from the plan, and for Reedus’ side, he seems quite happy with the change of pace.
“I’ve always loved the relationship with Daryl and Carol, and we play so well together. It’s a different kind of show,” Norman Reedus said about Daryl & Carol. “It’s a sign of hope. It’s not two groups fighting for territory or anything like that. It’s them and me on the road, seeing who is left out in the world, and it opens up quite a few possibilities.”
The idea of the couple going on an adventure together was first suggested in the opening episode of Season 10, when they were seen discussing that they’d be riding Daryl’s bike to find out what was happening in New Mexico, and it seems points out that showrunner Angela Kang has put a bit of thought into how to make the transition as smooth as possible.
“We’ve definitely talked about how we think we’re bringing them ashore and what they’re tipping them off about.” [in the new show]Kang recently told the Deadline podcast. “We’ve pitched what we think is the pilot, and it’s all in development, which is on its own schedule. Things are still broken down by beats and writing and stuff, but at least we have a plan that will hopefully work out.”
The living DeadThe final season kicks off next week and will deliver 24 epic episodes before closing for good next year, and we’ll see Daryl and Carol return for more adventures in 2023.
