The beloved actress shared her long-standing struggle with addiction in the past as she celebrated a huge milestone in her recovery.
Jamie Lee Curtis spoke to AARP The Magazine about her battle with addiction and her journey that stayed sober for over two decades!

The star shared that “I have been sober for 22 years, off alcohol and painkiller addiction.”
She added that “when you’re sober, you get into the one-on-one mentality,” referring to the fact that for people who suffer from addiction, staying sober is a daily struggle and it never really gets easy.
But Curtis has stayed strong and has remained sober since 1999!

In 2002, she even talked to ET and told the news channel all about the terrible effects of addiction on someone.
‘It kills people. It killed my brother. It kills young people, old people, it ruins families. It’s devastating,” she said.
Twenty years later, Curtis has some wise words of advice she learned on her journey to sobriety.
“Try to stay out of the future and try to forget the past, because it’s over and there’s nothing you can do about it anyway. Try to live a present life.”
Today the Scream Queen star is living her best life and she has earned it!
Speaking of which, the actress admitted during the same AARP The Magazine interview that she is shocked that 43 years after her debut role in ‘Halloween’ (1978), she is still in the entertainment business.
Speaking of which, she’s about to come full circle as she’ll be appearing in October as Laurie Strode in Halloween Kills – the second in a set of three new films, contributing to the famous horror franchise.
The first, which came out in 2018, was a huge success, something the actress “didn’t expect.”
“So it’s given me a whole new idea that I can make movies when I’m in my 60s. Which I never thought I’d do,” she said.
