Tom Hiddleston doesn’t want to leave the MCU anytime soon. This week the season finale of Loki released on Disney+, and Marvel fans praised Hiddleston’s outstanding performance in his long-running role as the God of Mischief after seeing the episode. The series has since been renewed for a second season and there are rumors that Hiddleston will also return to the big screen with an appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
After debuting in the role a decade ago in 2011’s Thor with Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston has now spent ten years in the MCU. While other big names from Marvel movies like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans have seemingly retired, Hiddleston hopes he’s just getting started. In a video posted to Tumblr, this is what the actor said when asked if he would play Loki for the rest of his life.
“If I were asked to play Loki for the rest of my life, would I? Yes, absolutely. I’m so lucky to have been able to play Loki for so long. And you know, I feel like he such an interesting character that has been in human consciousness for so long, he has so many different aspects, so many different complex features, that it feels like every time I play him, I’m discovering something new, whether we can develop him, or him take us down a road we haven’t taken before.”
Hiddleston continues his belief that Marvel Studios will continue to use Loki in various projects for the foreseeable future. He will want to stay in the role for as long as possible, and even if not for the rest of his life, Hiddleston is willing to remain as the God of Mischief as long as fans remain happy with his performance. As the actor says in the Tumblr video:
“Yeah, he’s been around for a while. I think he’ll be there for a lot longer. In the meantime, I’ll just hold on as long as people want me to hold on.”
Part of the MCU’s Phase Four, Loki stars Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. As a sequel to WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it is the third series to be released this year on Disney+ from Marvel Studios. All three have been praised, but Loki is also the first to be officially renewed for a second season. The show continues after that Avengers: Endgame with Loki escaping from one alternate reality to another using the Tesseract.
An accomplished actor, Hiddleston was a relative unknown when he landed the role of Loki in Thor. He’s come a long way since he first played in the MCU, and fans love him more than ever after the final of Loki, looks like he will be around for a long time. The first season of Loki is currently streaming on Disney+. This news comes from Tumblr.
