It’s never off-season to watch a horror movie. That’s why 4DigitalMedia has another one especially for you. Do you remember the movie? Ted? It’s about a child and a magical dirty-mouthed teddy bear. What if you took that cute, offensive bear and turned him into an evil home for parasitic creatures? That is what The nest is about, or at least what we can tell from the new trailer that just came out. The nest will be released on Netflix this year and will be available on home video from July 20.
When Meg and her mother Beth visit a flea market, Beth buys her young daughter an adorable teddy bear, thinking it might help with Meg’s separation anxiety. As children do, she quickly becomes attached to the bear, talks to it and takes it everywhere. Soon, however, Beth notices that the bear is communicating with Meg and even influencing her behavior. When Meg starts developing hoarding habits and appears to be infected by a parasitic creature, things take a turn for the worse. It soon becomes apparent that there is something far more nightmare and sinister about these yard sale toys than anyone could have imagined.
The cast includes a genre icon Dee Wallace, along with Sarah Navratil, Kevin Patrick Murphy, Drez Ryan, Blaque Fowler, Anna Lynn Holleman, Penny Munroe, Maple Suttles and Piper Suttles.
A family moves to a new house. They are shopping at a flea market and the little girl finds a teddy bear among a pile of random stuffed animals. The teddy bear is not cute at all, he seems to have just come out of the container. But the mother says, “Oh, I used to have a bear like that when I was a kid,” so you can see where this is going. And of course she takes the bear home. ️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️
The girl and the bear immediately become friends and it is clear that she is attached to her new toy. Until the parents find their daughter screaming behind a tree, holding the bear in terror. Now the fun begins when we learn that the daughter is deteriorating in school and becoming more and more attached to not only her mother but also the bear. ️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️
Quick scenes show the bear moving occasionally, and also open like a scene from Aliens to show ant and cockroach cricket bugs crawling out of a slime bubble. We also have the impression that these creatures control the girl and command her to do things she doesn’t want to do. Like attacking her father or her school counselor. The creepy bugs also seem to be no secret to the guy who had the yard sale earlier in the trailer.
It should be noted that if you are looking for more information about: The nest 2021, you may want to look for the alternative title the whining, I was able to find a full cast list and a release date of July 20, 2021. The director, James Suttels, went from documentaries to horror films such as The good things that devils do and The evil in her to name a few. However, this one looks like he was really trying to get the creepy, gross factor through the whole story. ️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️
So what do you think? are you going to see The nest? Personally, I saw enough to say yes, I want to watch. But then again, I’m a sucker for horror movies. But the idea of creepy critters living inside a teddy bear sells the concept for me.
