Mark Wahlberg reached his 50th birthday on Saturday and on that occasion he missed his late mother. Wahlberg’s mother Alma, who often appeared in the family’s reality TV series Wahlburgers, died in April at the age of 78 from the effects of dementia. In a photo he posted to Instagram on his 50th birthday, Wahlberg posted an old image of himself from the early 1990s next to his mother. You can watch it below.
“Miss you,” Mark Wahlberg just write in the caption.
Fortunately, Mark’s sister Tracey picked up where Alma left off. In another post, Wahlberg shares a video of birthday decorations adorning the front of a house, apparently an attempt by Tracey to help her brother celebrate his big day. After showing off the decorations in the video, Wahlberg thanks Tracey for his “special birthday” and tells her he loves her.
“Nothing is more important than family,” Wahlberg adds in the video’s caption. “My big sister Tracey made sure my birthday was special like my mom always did! I love you so much.”
In May, Wahlberg similarly paid tribute to his mother with another photo shared on Instagram. In the photo, Wahlberg poses next to Alma Wahlberg and his wife, Rhea Durham, in honor of Mother’s Day. He wrote in the caption, “Happy Mother’s Day. What would I be without these two? I miss your mom. I love you baby. To all moms. Thank you.”
That followed another post Wahlberg made about what would have been Alma’s 79th birthday. He shared a more recent photo of himself sitting with Alma, saying, “Congratulations Mom.”
Wahlberg’s next film, a former rapper who has achieved huge success in Hollywood with a long film career, is just days away from its premiere. He then stars in Antoine Fuqua’s sci-fi action film Infinite, which he also helped produce. It’s about a man (Wahlberg) who discovered that his hallucinations are actually visions from past lives. The film, originally slated to hit theaters last year, will now premiere exclusively on Paramount+ on June 10.
There are other roles in the works for Wahlberg that his fans can look forward to. Wahlberg also plays along with Spider Man actor Tom Holland in not mapped, the film adaptation of the popular PlayStation video game series. The story follows young adventurer Nathan Drake (Netherlands) who claims to be the son of famed explorer Sir Francis Drake, accompanied by his mentor and father figure Sully (Wahlberg). The film, directed by Ruben Fleischer, also stars Sophia Taylor Ali, Tati Gabrielle and Antonio Banderas. It will be released on February 18, 2022, after its own string of significant delays. A look at Wahlberg and Holland from the film was recently revealed in a sneak peek photo.
Although it was his first birthday without his mother, it seems that Wahlberg’s 50th went pretty well for the co-owner of Wahlburgers and Transformers series star. It’s also clear how much Alma is missed by the Wahlberg family. Alma’s original tribute post was posted on Instagram by Mark Wahlberg.
