Pauly Shore is celebrating the 29th anniversary of Encino Man by teasing a sequel again. Directed by Les Mayfield and featuring Shore alongside Sean Astin and Brendan Fraser, Encino Man was released in theaters in May 1992 by Walt Disney Pictures. It follows two geeky teens (Shore, Astin) who befriend a caveman (Fraser) who has thawed from a block of ice, helping him adjust to his new life in the present while simultaneously teaching them a thing or two about it. life.
Encino Man was a box office hit, but no sequels were ever released. Perhaps the chances of seeing it happen are greater than ever as we are in the era of modern sequels to classic movies and TV shows. We’ve already seen Disney do this with other classic 90s properties, with The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers has recently finished its first season and Hocus Pocus 2 in the works for release in 2022.
Recognition of the anniversary of Encino Man‘s premiere, Pauly Shore took to social media to post an image of the set of himself next to Fraser. He further teases the possibility of Encino Man 2 by reiterating that he is “ready” to reprise his role for the potential movie, as are both Fraser and Astin. It might take some convincing with the help of the Encino Man fans. Here’s what Shore had to say in the post.
“This weekend 29 years ago, Encino Man hit the big screen. Here’s a personal photo with myself and Brendan Fraser on set. Peace Brendan, I miss you. I hope you are doing well in this crazy world. And you know what Brendans’ peace sign means, right? Encino Man 2 doooooooddzzzz. Hit up Disney + and tell them yourself, Brendan and Sean Astin are ready for the sequel. Everyone have a great Memorial Day weekend. We will eat the juice. “
It’s not the first time Shore has called Encino Man 2 to happen. In November 2020, he remembered the same way Encino Man with a photo of the cast, suggesting that all three were “ready” to make the movie. As with the new post, he also thought it would help if the fans let the folks at Disney + know they want to see it happen.
“Well done Encino Man, do you still remember this classic? Shore’s post. How many people want to see Encino Man 2?! Head over to Disney + on social media and let them know Brendan, Sean and I are ready! Let’s do this 2021. Let’s Wiez do the plum juice dooooooooodz. “
If 90s nostalgia is present now, there’s no reason Encino Man 2 can’t be part of the fun. The original is a cult classic that’s a lot of fun, even though critics weren’t overly nice to the movie at the time. Hopefully Disney will notice the attention that Shore’s social media posts have received from fans, and we just might see the sequel come true. If not, fans can always go back and revisit the original anytime by streaming it on Disney +. This news comes from Pauly Shore on Instagram.
