#ReleaseTheGreenLanternScene is trending now as DC fans want Wayne T. Carr to be featured in a scene that Warner Bros. Zack Snyder cut from the movie. It’s no secret that the 2017 production has been highly criticized Justice League was problematic at best, and now we’ve even learned that Zack Snyder’s Justice League also had some production drama. Zack Snyder casts Wayne T. Carr as John Stewart in his original take on the film, but the beloved Lantern is nowhere to be seen in the final cut. Fans were clamoring for a peek at the cut scene, and Carr has finally admitted.
On Twitter, Wayne T. Carr earlier today shared a never-before-seen glimpse of his Green Lantern suit (albeit a pre-CGI version). The photo gives DC fans an idea of what he could have looked like as the classic superhero, and it’s safe to say he sure looks good. As for being cut from the movie, Carr shared his disappointment and his gratitude, saying about an episode of LightCast the following.
When I saw the full vision, I went through the journey as if everyone had been through the journey. By the end I realized, ‘Ugh. I’m not a part of this. Damn. The thing that just warmed my heart was then all concept art and stuff started falling, it was nothing but love from the fans, man. Like, I wasn’t even in the movie, and I’m just getting positive feedback from people and support. It’s super crazy. absolutely crazy, but I love it. “
The timing of Carr’s post is interesting because the day before, Deadline reported that Finn Wittrock had been cast as Guy Gardner in the upcoming HBO Max. Green Lantern series. Wittrock was billed as the lead character, which is odd considering Guy Gardner’s relatively unknown status as opposed to Lanterns like John Stewart, Hal Jordan, and Kyle Rayner. It is currently unknown whether Wayne T. Carr or his character Stewart will appear in the series.
As for Zack Snyder, the decision to remove John Stewart from his movie wasn’t his, but rather Warner Bros. Indiewire.com reported that Snyder almost shut down the entire movie due to some of the studio’s decisions. He said this.
And then the studio had told me that I was not allowed to shoot anything. That no film would be made. During production, that was something they were on. Yard. And one of the things I filmed was the scene of the Green Lantern. ‘
Instead of Green Lantern appearing in the movie, Harry Lennix ‘Martian Manhunter was the replacement character. It’s interesting to hear some behind the scenes stories from Zack Snyder’s Justice League because it sheds light on how heavy the studio’s involvement really was. Even after Snyder had to completely remake his movie, he was still unable to offer his fans his full vision. Although the role of Wayne T. Carr was dropped, he could still appear in future DC projects if Snyder gets the go-ahead to continue his work in the franchise. While that’s unlikely right now, crazier things have happened. Zack Snyder’s Justice League is now available to stream on HBO Max.
