Star Wars icon and everyone’s favorite Jedi, Mark Hamill, has joined stand-up comedian Bert Kreischer The machine, which will be inspired by a viral clip from one of Kreischer’s shows. Hamill will star in the film in the movie as Kreischer’s father, where the film is based on a supposedly true story in which the comedian somehow accidentally got involved with the Russian mafia while studying abroad on the university.
The machine has been described as “The hangover meets Midnight Run, “which sounds like a combination prepared for a whole host of comedic pranks. The stand-up routine that The machine takes inspiration from went viral a while ago and has since been viewed over 85 million times. The clip includes Bert Kreischer treating the audience to the story of his savage misadventures while he was in Russia during his college days. Although Kreischer had no interest in learning Russian or any kind of study, Kreischer did a semester in Russia to get an easy minor, and somehow ended up drunk and accidentally joined the Russian. crowd, earning him the nickname “The Machine”.
Rather than retelling this story, the film will instead find Bert’s Russian mafia left catching up with him some 20 years later, when he and his Mark Hamill) are kidnapped by those who wronged Bert a few decades ago while drunk during a college semester abroad in Russia. The machine comes courtesy of Legendary, featuring Peter Atencio, known for his work on the sketch shows Key & Peele and the comedy on the big screen Keanu, on board to direct.
The film certainly has a lot of potential for a hilarious knockout comedy, and it should live up to the “Hangover meets Midnight Runcomparison, could become a modern classic of the genre. The addition of the treasure that Mark Hamill makes The machine an extremely engaging project, in which the actor has proven over the years that he has a real penchant for comedy and is delightfully charming in everything he gives his name to.
Mark Hamill is, of course, best known for his role in the Star Wars franchise, which has played the role of Luke Skywalker in both the original trilogy and Disney’s more recent forays.
