Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead trailer has recently been released and is packed with zombie action. Fans love Snyder’s energetic new take on the living dead mythology, which reveals a Las Vegas that has been suffering from a zombie outbreak for many years, leaving the city with a bloody shell of its former self. But a big question has arisen about the project since its inception. Why does someone need money during a zombie apocalypse? In a recent Q&A, Snyder explained that Vegas was the epicenter of the zombie outbreak when it first started, thus making the city a natural breeding ground for the zombie virus in all its forms. Zombies are in Vegas, and the rest of the world has, for the most part, just kept going.
“The premise is that the zombie outbreak started in Vegas. And the way the outbreak was mitigated was that a wall of shipping containers was built around it and they kept the plague in, that’s how they held it with this great wall. so hence the zombie birds And so you have this, that’s the world we have to enter … it’s been like that for a few years And when Vegas fell, it was on fire, it was bombed, there was like a little a war in Vegas. That was a big part of the mythology of the world. And so in that world, when we enter that world, we have to let go. And there are a whole bunch of rules around the world. “
Army of the Dead follows a group of mercenaries who live through the zombie apocalypse. To collect a large supply of money, the group must venture into the deepest pits of the zombie hive, where the slightest mistake could lead to death, or worse. Described as a “Zombie Heist” story, Snyder says the meat of the story lies in allowing the audience to discover this new zombie-infested reality up close.
“I really wanted to make a movie where, with the universe … I can be kind of an extreme authority on, and therefore just let the audience go for a ride. And that’s purely on purpose. And I think I am. really obsessed with tone I think I already said it but I also really enjoy this tone Like where the mood is you have fun but never have fun where you have the audience constantly on the edge where the reality of the movie is cinematic reality, but a reality that you try to reinforce, for example you send them deeper and deeper into a world that you have created, as it were, and you start bringing in the walls and bringing in the rules. And I really like that. “
The online response to the trailer for the film has been very positive so far, and fans are looking forward to Snyder’s return to the Zombie genre after the 2004s.
