To a general audience, it might seem like the MCU is already full of crazy characters. But Marvel comic fans know that the franchise’s craziest characters have yet to make their MCU debuts. A highly anticipated character is the Silver Surfer. Two years ago, the fandom was buzzing with news that Curt Clendenin had been cast as the Surfer and even filmed a few scenes for Avengers: Infinity WarIn a recent interview with ComicBookMovie.com, Clendenin hinted that he had indeed filmed something for both Endgame or Infinity War that could eventually see the light of day.
“Gosh. I … I can’t really say too much about whatever it is … You know, there’s a lot. I don’t know if you’ve seen it like the … [Endgame directors] the Russo brothers are good at … how do I say it? They’re good at leaving Easter eggs too, and they like to have fun with things, you know? (Laughs) It’s just not me; I can’t … I can’t really say. Do you know how George Lucas handles his sets? You are going to audition for a movie called Blue Mountain. And it turns out he’s like, ‘No surprise, it’s Star Wars.’ So I have to leave some secrecy. I don’t know how else to explain it, but ideally, time will tell. There are a lot of things that aren’t shown, and we’ve heard of all these new Marvel shows coming out, and we’ve heard about, say, certain side projects that directors may or may not be working on. . And thus…”
After Thanos’ departure, many fans believe that the only villain enough to take his place in the MCU is Galactus, the world eater whose herald, the Silver Surfer, is tasked with finding new worlds for his master to consume. A wielder of cosmic power, the Surfer is increasingly powerful than Thor and Captain Marvel’s.
Many believed that Silver surfer would have a cameo Endgame as the one who rescues Tony from his ship in space. Although Captain Marvel ended up playing that role, it appears that Clendenin has a role to play in the film’s story, even though it was a minor role that would have served more like an Easter egg than a set-up for a future project. For now, Curt Clendenin hopes that the images he once took will see the light of day.
“You never know what interesting gold nuggets will surface. We always hear pilots for certain TV shows and stuff, and they never saw the light of day. And years later someone uploads something to a YouTube channel or Daily. Motion or something like that. It’s not that hard for copyright issues, you know? So there are sites where things find their way. So we’ll see some nice things in the future. “
Hopefully fans will get to see what role Clendenin played in soon Avengers: Endgame, and whether that part had anything to do with the formidable Eater of Worlds. This story first comes from CoicBookMovie.com.
