Shay Mitchell appeared on an episode of Katie’s Crib podcast and then revealed she struggled with prenatal depression while expecting her first child.

She made sure to break up about this to help other moms who are going through the same thing, and let them all know they aren’t alone!
The Pretty Little Liars star is absolutely thrilled and proud to have 16 month old daughter Atlas in her life, but it’s safe to say her path to motherhood wasn’t an easy one!
As a result, she’s quite worried about wanting to give her little daughter a sibling at this point in her life, knowing what she had to go through to get her at all.

She shared that “For the most part, I was blessed and really liked it, but the parts I didn’t like, I thought,” Aww man. Wow. “I really want a brother or sister, but I don’t want to have another pregnancy.” I wasn’t that radiant goddess who absolutely loved it. I don’t want to do it again because it took its mental toll. I had prepartum, not postpartum and I didn’t know that at the time. I only heard about postpartum, so I was preparing for that, but when I was upset and not feeling my best, I thought, “What is this? Nobody spoke about this! I should be so happy now. “
Mitchell admitted that she is really “nervous” about going back to that place.
According to the Mayo Clinic, prenatal depression occurs in about 7 percent of pregnant women.
Additionally, since some of the symptoms, such as changes in sleep, energy level, appetite, and libido, are also usually attributed to just being pregnant, they warned that many women ignore these symptoms, unaware that they are in fact symptoms of depression.
