During a conversation with Elle Magazine, FKA Twigs explored her relationship with Shia LaBeouf including how offensive it was (reportedly) and how it felt to her. Page Six this week picked up the interview in which FKA addressed her allegedly abusive romance with Shia, prompting her to file a lawsuit against the actor.
The star said during the conversation that the abuse she endured at the hands of her ex was ‘systematic’, comparing it to the infamous analogy of boiling frogs.

In case you’re not familiar with it, the analogy states that if you drop frogs into a pot of boiling water, they will instantly pop out, but if you bring the pot to a boil from the start with the frogs in it, they will allow themselves to die a slowly boiling death.
FKA says their romance was a lot like that, because in the early stages of it, she didn’t know anything was wrong. It was only gradually ramped up over time until she began to realize she was too deep in it.

As part of her LA County Superior claim that she filed last year, FKA alleged that Shia knowingly gave her an STD which she confirmed with medical analysis. Twigs talked about how the STD diagnosis was the latest betrayal for her and that she didn’t want to deal with him anymore.
According to Twigs, she started dating 34-year-old Shia LaBeouf not long after she got out of her romance with Robert Pattinson. The star said the STD diagnosis she received during her romance with Shia was the last straw.
Twigs went on to tell the Elle reporter that it wasn’t even the way she was raised, or how her mother raised her; it was sheer luck that she was able to get away from Mr. LaBeouf. Today, Twigs is dating Matt Healy, the frontman of The 1975.
According to the singer-songwriter, Shia managed to keep her in the relationship through things like “ love bombing, ” meaning he’d do fun things like buy her flowers, promise to change, and other romantic gestures after a fight.
In addition, Twigs explained how the actor’s acting method became concerning. She says he would always bully her like she was too dumb to understand how difficult it is to be an actor, while at the same time using the acting style as an excuse to engage in behaviors she thought was inappropriate, such as owning a gun and using it to kill stray dogs. Twigs says Shia admitted this.
