Horror fans can now spend the night at Buffalo Bill’s house from The Silence of the Lambs. The house was on the market last year and horror fan Chris Rowan decided to buy it. Rowan plans to turn the Perryopolis, Pennsylvania home into a travel destination for horror fans around the world in the coming months. The home’s exterior is instantly recognizable to fans of the 1991 Academy Award-winning film, along with parts of the interior, which appear to have been left untouched over the years.
Bloody Disgusting was the first to discover this Silence of the lambs home was open to the public after discovering the official website that Chris Rowan had set up. “After months and months of hard work learning how to properly open and build a business, I am proud to say that Buffalo’s Bill’s House is open to victims (I mean, the public!),” Says Rowan. “Buffalo Bill’s House is a really small business. It’s not part of some business machine, but a dream come true, owned and managed by a man who has had an obsession with horror movies since he was six.” Rowan had to jump through a few hoops to get to the house, but this is just the beginning of his dream.
While The silence of the lambs house was used extensively towards the end of the movie, it doesn’t actually have a pit in the basement. That part of Buffalo Bill’s house was shot elsewhere. However, Chris Rowan is already devising a way to make the basement a replica of the set, giving horror fans a unique experience. Below you can read what Rowan had to say about the future of the home.
“Like an ardent Silence of the lambs and Buffalo Bill fan, and with my knowledge of the industry, I have big plans to make it a “cinematic destination,” complete with the option to stay, and provide tours of the residence for all fans. I also have a vision that the ‘Well’ and ‘Buffalo Bill’s Workshop’ will be remade and built on site as permanent sets, so that fans have the most unique photo opportunities during their visit with keepsakes that will last a lifetime! “
Buffalo Bill’s home is now open for business, allowing guests to stay overnight. Guided tours are also offered, as well as movie opportunities in and around the house. Hardcore horror fans can even get married on site if they wish. The silence of the lambs home is located just 30 miles outside of Pittsburgh, and it’s fairly easy to get to. Fans can now go straight to the site and get an immersive look at the house, which was built in 1910.
For Chris Rowan, this is a dream come true for himself and horror fans around the world. When the house first went up for sale last year, many horror fans probably thought exactly what Rowan was thinking. And now it is a reality. You can go to Buffalo Bill’s house official website to have a closer look at the house and book your stay.
