Warner Bros. is going big The batter, with the world of The Dark Knight poised to move beyond the superhero’s exploits on the big screen. Matt Reeves’ upcoming movie is getting a small screen, based on the Gotham City Police Department, Gotham PD, and now HBO content chief Casey Bloys has provided some explanation of how the show fits into the franchise, even teasing the involvement of famous DC faces like Jim Gordon.
That’s the idea. Matt Reeves is clearly a producer on Gotham City PD. We don’t just want to reserve characters for movies or for TV. There has to be some degree of fluidity between them. So that’s the idea. I mean, we “We’re at a very early stage about that. So I’m not suggesting that any particular character will be. But then again, that’s generally the idea that there will be a crossover.”
Although it seems unlikely The batter Starring Robert Pattinson will appear as the Caped Crusader, or even as alter ego Bruce Wayne, it sounds very plausible that Jeffrey Wright could appear in cameo appearances as Batman ally Jim Gordon. Of course, it can also lead to people like The Penguin and Catwoman doing what they do best, with the result that Gotham must best track them down.
While specific plot details for Gotham P.D. remain hidden, the series will reportedly take place during Batman’s first year of operations and focus on corruption in Gotham City. Various reports and details revealed during the latest DC Fandome have also revealed that the show will focus on a corrupt GCPD officer and the battle for his soul.
Gotham PD was created by Terence Winter, although he left the project on November 17, 2020. Since Winter’s departure, Joe Barton (People Girl / Haji) has been tapped as the new showrunner for the upcoming DC project. The batter director Matt Reeves is also on board as a major producer, with the show ordered direct in series and scheduled for release on HBO Max. With Gotham PD situated in the same universe as The batter, expects the series to be draped in the same noir-driven influence.
The batter meanwhile picks up with a young Bruce Wayne, discouraged by the lack of impact he has on crime in Gotham, when a series of murders by The Riddler suddenly takes place. Led by a path that will reveal dark secrets about his parents, Bruce is forced to confront the corruption going on in the shadows of his town as he tries to capture The Riddler before killing again.
Tenet star Robert Pattinson is adapting as the Dark Knight, with the rest of the cast including Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as Riddler, Colin Farrell as Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson and Jeffery Wright as Commissioner Gordon. The batter is expected to finish in March and will hit theaters on March 4, 2022 after several delays.
Gotham PD is just one of many upcoming DC spin-offs slated for HBO Max, featuring director James Gunn’s The suicide squad already one Peacekeeper series starring John Cena. This comes to us thanks to The Wrap.
