The Fast and furious family is back in the recently released F9 Super Bowl trailer. The footage teases multiple surprises, including the return of Lady Helen Mirren, who will be much faster and much more furious this time, with the Oscar winner getting behind the wheel and putting the pedal on the metal.
First introduced in 2017 The fate of the enragedMirren will reprise her role as Magdalene Shaw, matriarch of the Shaw clan, with the actress also appearing in the 2019 spin-off Fast & Furious presents: Hobbs & Shaw alongside action movie heavy-hitters Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham. Mirren wanted to be a driver from the very beginning and revealed in 2017 that she “almost fell to my knees. Not quite. But I went on my metaphorical knees to Vin and to everyone else. I always … I just wanted to be in one of those movies. ”Although she’s been a part of the franchise for the last few episodes, Mirren has yet to delve into the action, an opportunity she will no doubt appreciate in Fast & Furious 9.
Vin Diesel has revealed that before Helen Mirren will join the chaos of vehicles in a more direct way F9, with the actor saying, “Without giving away spoilers … You know what, I’m going to give you a spoiler: Yeah, she gets to drive. It’s so great. She gets to drive and she gets to drive slim.”
F9 continues with Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto who now lives a quiet life with Letty and his son, little Brian. They know, of course, that danger is always just above their peaceful horizons, and this time that threat will force Dom to face the sins of his past as he sets out to save those he loves most. The Fast and Furious family must once again join forces to stop an earth-shattering plot led by Dom’s younger brother Jakob, a deadly hit man who teams up with their old foe Cipher, who wages a personal vendetta against Dom.
Directed by Justin Lin, F9 stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron. in The Rock’s absence, F9 has filled in their WWE legend quota by adding John Cena as Dom’s estranged brother, Jakob Toretto. Fast and Furious 9 is expected to be the first film in a final trilogy to wrap up the long-running franchise.
The highly anticipated sequel has now been delayed several times amid the ongoing global situation, with talks recently about possible further delays and even a possible streaming release. However, Vin Disel is committed to a traditional, theatrical release, with the actor recently saying, “I am so committed to the theatrical experience. It is clear that I have dedicated my life to [the cinema]. It’s a great feeling to know we’ll be there on May 28th with a movie everyone wants to see together. “
