The only real James Earl Jones just turned 90 and fans are celebrating the career of the award-winning actor and Hollywood icon. With his instantly recognizable voice and truly incredible performances, Jone is widely regarded as one of the greatest actors in American history. With the hope that the actor has a very happy birthday, fans around the world, from Star Wars fans of Disney fanatics and everything in between post tribute messages wishing him the best and honoring his work.
“He has the most iconic voice in the galaxy. Leave the birthday wishes for James Earl Jones below,” the Star Wars UK account on Twitter, making many, many birthday wishes from Star Wars fans.
One fan tweets, “THE voice, happy 90th of the great James Earl Jones .. An acting legend, ruler of Zamunda and the whole galaxy !!

Another fan recognizes Jones’ debut film role and posts an excerpt from the film and tweets: “James Earl Jones #BOTD portrays Lieutenant Lothar Zogg in Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove (1964). The film is a brilliant satire on MAD doctrine and shows a United States Air Force general ordering a first nuclear attack on the Soviet Union, with Zogg piloting one of the B-52s on the route. “
Some celebrities also get Jones’s credit. Actor Wendell Pierce, famous for The wire and Jack Ryan, took to Twitter to write, “To my mentor and inspiration: Happy 90th birthday to James Earl Jones. One of the greatest artists of our generation. May you be continually blessed.”
With a booming voice like no other, Jones is easily recognized for his speaking roles. With David Prowse in the costume, Jones provided the voice of the iconic villain Darth Vader in the original Star Wars movie trilogy by George Lucas. It’s a role he would reprise in later parts of the franchise, including 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Jones is also known for voicing Mufasa in the animated Disney classic The lionking, and because it was too hard to imagine anyone else voicing the character, he returned as Mufasa in the 2019 remake.
In live action movies, Jones also played in several acclaimed roles. Before playing Jack Jefferson in The great white hope, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor. He is also known for his performances in such films as Malcolm X, The Bushido knife, Conan the Barbarian, Soul Man, Field of dreams, and The hunt for the red October. Jones also played King Jaffe Joffer in the Eddie Murphy comedy Coming to America, a role he will reprise in the sequel this year Comes 2 America. That movie will be released on Amazon Prime Video on March 5.
