A report from Page Six said today that Dr. Drew Pinsky was diagnosed with COVID-19 just a few months after comparing COVID-19 with influenza. An Instagram post from the reality TV star claimed that his wife, Susan, tested negative and that Dr. Drew currently stays at home to get better.
The post joked about how it couldn’t have come at a better time as the New Year is approaching. The message read that the “@firstladyoflove” has been tested negative for the virus. The message continues that he has been under surveillance and that he is feeling a little better every day.
In a video posted to his account on Tuesday, Pinksy spoke in an earlier tweet saying he “wished for COVID.” At the time, Pinsky said he was struggling with an illness he thought could be acute lymphocytic leukemia, which is clearly much worse than COVID-19.
The doctor added that he hoped out loud that he had COVID-19 because it was the better option than leukemia. Drew says the medical community now has many ways to treat COVID-19, so he hoped he had COVID-19 instead of leukemia.
Earlier this year, Drew also shared when he got his first COVID-19 test. Drew has been in the headlines several times in recent months, including when he compared COVID-19 to influenza. Pinsky said his “early comments” were incorrect.
To date, there have been 336,000 deaths in the United States of America alone. Drew isn’t the only celebrity to come under fire on social media for comments about the virus.
The same happened to Doja Cat, who later came up with the corona virus herself. Doja Cat claimed at the time that she didn’t care because it probably wouldn’t hurt her much anyway. Doja Cat was in the midst of another controversy over her online chat room habits.
Drew Pinksy was also on top of some of the most pertinent issues of the day, including when commenting on Demi Lovato’s alleged drug overdose.
